FAQ

Top questions I've been asked at in person events.  If you have a different question, please email me at info@socalfibers.com and I may add it to the list here!

(Some version of) What is this called?

Punch Needle. The process uses a hollow, specialized needle to push yarn or thread through fabric with tiny holes, leaving behind tiny loops on the other side.

How did you learn how to punch needle?

I am self taught.  I watched a number of tutorials online, read a lot and took one online course for making purses specifically.

How long does it take you to make something?

It can take 2 hours to make one set of car coasters (punch needle and assembly) and over 20 hours of punching to make a 24"x 36" wall art.

How do you get the different textures?

I use different lengths of punch needle tools to create different sized loops. If I want longer loops, I'll hand pull them as I am punching yarn through. I also punch from both sides of the fabric so the piece will show both flat stitching and loops.

Is it washable?

The wool yarn I use is washable but the product itself may not be.  To extend the life of your purse, coaster, rug or pillow, it's best to spot clean or hand wash.

Do you do custom work?

I take requests for custom work.  If you're interested, email me at info@socalfibers.com and I'll send you a form to fill out.

Do you ship?

I ship anywhere within the United States

Do you offer classes?

At this time, I do not offer classes.  If/when I do decide to, I'll first offer it to those on my email list.   I want people to leave my class feeling confident about what they've made which means I want to have the right tools available for you.  I'll keep you posted:)

Are you on any socials?

Yes, you can see more of my work on Instagram @socalfibers.  I'm no longer posting on Facebook.
